Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. (stock code: 600006, stock abbreviation: Dongfeng Motor) is a limited liability company exclusively initiated by Dongfeng Motor Corporation in 1998 to reorganize the assets and businesses related to light commercial vehicles and diesel engines of its subordinate light vehicle factories, diesel engine factories and the third foundry factory. It was established by means of social fund-raising and was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange on July 27, 1999.
In 2003, Dongfeng Motor Corporation and Nissan Motor Corporation of Japan cooperated comprehensively and deeply to establish the largest joint venture company in the domestic automobile industry - Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. The controlling shareholder of Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. was changed to Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd.
As of December 31, 2008, the company had 8254 employees, including 1194 technicians.
Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. is mainly composed of four branches: Automobile Branch, Casting Branch, Carriage Branch, Changzhou Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd., three business divisions: Engineering Vehicles, Overseas and Special Vehicles, Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co., Ltd., Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Light Engine Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Xiangyang Touring Car Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Yulong Automobile Sales Co., Ltd Dongfeng Xiangyang Logistics Industry and Trade Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Xiangyang Special Purpose Vehicle Co., Ltd., Shanghai Jiahua Investment Co., Ltd. and other 10 holding subsidiaries, with business layout in Wuhan, Xiangyang, Shiyan, Zhengzhou and Changzhou.
The production and sales volume of Dongfeng series light commercial vehicles ranks second in the industry.
Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co., Ltd., which holds 50% of the company's shares, is the largest medium and heavy power production base in China, with its products covering B, C, L series 4-9L mechanical and fully electronic controlled diesel engines, and its power range is 100-545 horsepower.
Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co., Ltd., in which the company holds 50% shares, is the largest high-end pickup truck production base in China.
Dongfeng Xiangyang Touring Vehicle Co., Ltd., which holds 90% of the company's shares, produces and sells bus chassis and series buses, among which the sales volume of bus chassis ranks first in the domestic industry.
